GRANADA AND ITS CHARMS
No ski resort in the world except Sierra Nevada can boast of being 32 kilometres (less than a 40-minute drive) from a city with one of the best cultural heritage spots in the world. One of Granada's is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while there are many other gems to admire. However, you simply have to visit the Alhambra and the Generalife.

THE ALHAMBRA AND THE GENERALIFE: A collection of buildings, some of which are of Arab construction, such as the Palacios Nazaríes and the Alcazaba, and the Generalife Gardens. Other structures are examples of Christian architecture, such as the Palacio de Carlos V and Santa María Church, which was constructed on the old mosque.

▪ EL ALBAYZÍN DISTRICT (Heritage Site): This neighbourhood, along with Sacromonte, is one of the most charming, vibrant and historic in Granada. Wander its narrow streets scented with jasmine, view its traditional gardens or enjoy a cup of tea accompanied by a delicious Arab pastry: this is a true journey to the Moorish roots of this city.

▪ SACROMONTE DISTRICT: This area is famous for its caves, in which gypsies continue to host flamenco song and dance celebrations every night. Craftsmen also work with wicker, the forge and copper here. The traditional zambra was born here, with autochthonous dances and songs such as the mosca and the cachucha.

▪ SCIENCE PARK: Here, visitors have the history of science at their fingertips. You can participate via experiments carried out by the world's leading minds. Explore the Biosphere Room, a Giant Kaleidoscope in the Perception Room, the Eureka Room or discover the legacy of Al-Andalus in a specific room. Of course, kids (3-7 years old) can play and experience science in the Explore Room.

▪ GRANADA'S MONUMENTS: Few cities in the world have such a diverse history. This is reflected in Granada's streets and monuments. Head through the streets of its old districts, enter the Catholic Monarchs' mausoleum at the Royal Chapel, admire the cathedral, visit the Arab Baths and the Realejo (the old Jewish district) the Alcaicería (the old silk market) or the Calderería.

▪ CULTURAL TOURS: Granada offers visitors a selection of cultural tours via which you can discover the most important aspects about its history, customs and peoples. The Andalusi Legacy; Guadix-Baza, The Cradle of the European Man; Federico García Lorca, The Universal Granada Native; El Flamenco, La Zambra and El Sacromonte; The Beginning of the Discovery of America; The Nazarí Kingdom of Granada; The Aulica City and the Work of Siloé, Renaissance Tour and Baroque Granada.

▪ SHOPPING IN GRANADA: This is the perfect place for shopping, with plenty stores and markets available. In the city's central streets you will find: Alhóndiga, Ángel Ganivet, Gran Vía, Mesones, Plaza de Bib-Rambla, Recogidas, Reyes Católicos and Zacatín. The adjoining Plaza Nueva, the streets of the Calderería Nueva and the Calderería Vieja with their shops still have Arab influences. There are also flower and fruit markets in the Plaza Larga in El Albayzín, between the Cuesta de la Alhacaba and Calle Panaderos, while there are others in La Chana and El Zaidí where a street market is organised every Saturday. Granada is also home to large, modern shopping centres with many stores.

▪ GRANADA TAPAS AND CUISINE: It is an old Granada custom that when a client orders a beer or a glass of wine, they are served a free tapa in every bar in town. Tapas dishes constitute a delicious and varied alternative for informal lunches or dinners. El Albayzín, Campo del Príncipe and Calle Elvira are essential stops for a true Granada tapas experience.

The fusion of the Jewish, Arab and Christian cultures has given rise to original cuisine with many influences. Honey, spices, fruits and garlic adorn meats and fish, creating tasty feasts such as lamb with apples, porridge with honey, chicken with almonds, trout with pomegranate, stewed snails, fried potatoes, battered fish, migas and meat skewers in addition to salads and cold soups like gazpacho, pipirranas, ajoblanco, orange salads and cod salad.
